NB Commission on Legislative Democracy report and questionnaire

January 20th, 2005

The New Brunswick Commission on Legislative Democracy has released their Final Report and Summary of the Final Report Go give them a read – they are pretty clear.

They propose mixed-proportional representation, fixed election dates, independently drawn election boundries after census and plenty more.

After you read them fill out their Questionnaire – Final Report and Recommendations, and contact your MLA. For the terminally curious you can see the Pre report questionnaire results that at least some of the proposals are based on. If you are afraid of original sources there are plenty of news stories about this.

I will be commenting on this after I have read and digested it. I wonder if giving lottery tickets to people after the put a ballot in the box would boost voter turnout?

Perfect practice makes perfect.

Harold recently commented on Practice and Feedback. Part of the message is: muscle memory will commit you to what you practice – if you practice incorrectly then that bad form will stay with you. My friend Mike Gallant who is a Coach and Teacher is very careful to say that “Perfect practice makes perfect” not that “practice makes perfect” Harold has been talking a lot recently about what we as teachers should be taking from coaching.

Drupal Review – real soon now

Harold Jarche saw this call for reviews and asked me to help him write a review of Drupal. The review should appear on the businessblogconsulting site real soon now™.

My Way

September 1st, 2004

My prediction for Canadian Idol tonight is that Jacob Hoggard will preform "My Way."- the Sex Pistols version. I think they will be performing two songs – if so he will perform the same song again, but a more classic interpretation that fits into "the standards" theme better. Gotta hit submit before 9:00.

Update:
Crushing blow – I was completely wrong in my prediction. All four finalists were great in the first half and mostly lost it in the second – very odd. Jacob is back as my favourite after not being so good for the last few weeks.

First Comment Spam

August 3rd, 2004

I got my first comment spam on the first, and was able to delete it on the second. It was, of course, to a porn site.

Which Party? – Possibly the most inaccurate poll ever.

July 6th, 2004

My Which party poll was way off base.  I had the Green Party in First, Conservatives Second, and then NDP third.
